On August 31, Nissan Motor Company and Honda Motor issued a joint statement stating that the two sides have signed a joint development agreement aimed at standardizing various electronic control units, key parts of vehicle operating systems and middleware that form the core of next-generation software-defined vehicles, as well as vehicle control software running on these ECUs. The two companies said they plan to equip the next generation models with system architectures equipped with these electronic control units and software starting in FY2029.
