The Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) memecoin turned heads in August with strong gains, but the real standout was a little-known cryptocurrency with a market capitalization a fraction of blue-chip currencies.

PONS Steals the Spotlight

Pons (PONS), based on the Robinhood Chain developed by Robinhood Markets Inc. (NASDAQ:HOOD), emerged as the market’s top gainer this month, surging 1256%.

PONS is a non-custodial token launchpad, allowing users to create and trade fixed-supply tokens directly from their wallets.

PONS has been on a tear since its launch last week. The momentum has grown, sending the token to its all-time high of $0.3981 on Sunday.

Cryptocurrency 30-Day Gains +/- Price (Recorded at 5:04 a.m. ET)
Pons +1256.34% $0.3354
Helium               +302.31% $0.7379
Bitway +258.08% $0.4082

Helium (CRYPTO: HNT) came in a distant second, rallying over 300% in the month. Stacks (CRYPTO: STX), a Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) Layer-2 token, delivered returns of more than 80%.

TRUMP continues to rank among the biggest beneficiaries of the late August rally. The President Donald Trump-themed memecoin lifted 67% to become one of the bright spots of the market.

Bitcoin, Ethereum Among Gainers

Market heavyweights, including Bitcoin and Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), led the market’s rebound in August, gaining 24% and 31%. respectively.

Bitcoin surged to $80,000 for the first time in more than three months. The overall cryptocurrency market expanded 22% in a month, from $2.16 trillion to $2.64 trillion.
