(SASE:2222), d/b/a Saudi Aramco, enlisted Sony Group's semiconductor division to develop an artificial intelligence model to assist in plant maintenance operations, Nikkei Asia reported Tuesday. Sony Semiconductor Solutions will collect visual and non-visible data using image sensors. The data will be used to train AI to predict equipment failures and other operational issues. The AI could also help assess damage and support emergency response in case of a disaster, the report added. Sony intends to deploy the AI beyond oil and gas facilities over the long term.
