04:01 AM EDT, 09/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Rheinmetall (RHM.F) unit American Rheinmetall handed over the first Lynx XM30 combat vehicle prototype to the US Army for its transformation in the contact 2.0 program. The German arms maker said Tuesday that the prototype will immediately enter government developmental and performance testing, which is part of a phase 3 and 4 engineering and manufacturing development contract valued at $764 million. The remaining seven prototypes for operational unit training will be delivered later in 2026.
