04:07 AM EDT, 09/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Operating conditions in Italy's manufacturing sector decreased in August for the first time since January as demand weakness led to the fastest decline in new orders in nearly 1.5 years, S&P Global said Tuesday. The S&P Global Italy Manufacturing PMI fell to 49.6 from 51.3 in July, below the consensus estimate of 51.4. While output and stocks of purchases also dropped, a renewed increase in employment stemmed the overall decline of the PMI into contraction territory.
