04:43 AM EDT, 09/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The number of companies in Germany planning to increase prices was "somewhat fewer" in August, indicating a potential easing in pressures over the next three months, the ifo Institute said Tuesday. The ifo price expectations index fell to 21.2 points from 21.6 in the previous month. Various sectors logged a decline in price expectations, including energy-intensive and non-energy-intensive companies, as well as the trade industry. On the other hand, service providers' price expectations marginally rose during the month. Still, ifo expects inflation to remain elevated in the coming months as the ongoing Middle East conflict fuels high energy prices, with the inflation rate seen at 2.8% in 2026 and 3% in 2027.
