Italian Annual Inflation Rate Up to 3.3% in August, Preliminary Data Shows

05:53 AM EDT, 09/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Italy's annual inflation rate increased to 3.3% in August from 2.9% in July, provisional data from statistics agency Istat showed Tuesday. On a monthly basis, consumer prices ticked up 0.5%, as expected, compared with the prior 0.3% uptick. The Italian harmonized inflation rate stood at 3.2% on an annual basis, in line with the market forecast and against the previous 2.9%. Month over month, harmonized consumer prices were 0.1% higher, compared with the 1% drop previously. Core inflation, meanwhile, eased to 1.5% from 1.6% earlier.
