12:29 AM EDT, 09/03/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Deutsche Telekom's (DTE.F) proposed merger with unit T-Mobile US (TM5.F, TMUS.VI) is facing opposition from activist fund Elliott Management, which amassed a "sizeable" interest in the German telecoms company, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Instead of discussing a merger with T-Mobile US, in which Deutsche Telekom already owns a 53% shareholding, the New York-based investment manager wants Deutsche Telekom to prioritize stock buybacks and other measures to enhance shareholder value. Deutsche Telekom and Elliott did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
