According to the news, on the afternoon of September 3, Hutchmed announced that its subsidiary Hutchmed (Shanghai) Limited (HUTCHMED) Limited (HUTCHMED) and a subsidiary of GSK plc (“GlaxoSmithKline”) reached an exclusive development and licensing agreement granting the GlaxoSmithKline subsidiary the right to develop and commercialize the HMPL-A830 on a global scale other than mainland China, Hong Kong, China, Macau, and Taiwan. Clinical development will first focus on colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and lung cancer indications.
According to the terms of the agreement, Hutchison Whampoa Pharmaceuticals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will be responsible for the HMPL-A830 global Phase I development project, which is expected to commence in the second half of 2026. The agreement includes a $110 million down payment and potential development, registration and commercialization milestone payments, totaling up to $1,295 million, plus royalties based on net sales.
According to reports, this is the world's first (first-in-class) antibody-targeted conjugation drug (ATTC) candidate, using a highly selective and highly active KRAS (Kirsten rat sarcoma) small molecule inhibitor as a payload and conjugated with an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antibody. ATTC is guided by antibodies, so that the potent cell-killing payload can selectively focus on tumor tissue and exert activity.
