This is the second-largest dollar loan in Asia this year, after the $40 billion bridging loan signed by SoftBank Group in March.
According to reports, ByteDance initially sought a financing amount of 20 billion US dollars, but eventually increased the loan size with bank support. The loan also attracted more than 30 billion US dollars in subscriptions. The loan period was 3 years. The initial interest rate was a guaranteed overnight financing rate plus 68 basis points, and the loan period can be extended to a maximum of 5 years.
To expand data centers and other artificial intelligence infrastructure, ByteDance's capital expenditure is expected to rise to 70 billion US dollars this year, more than double that of last year.
