S&P: Europe Sector PMI Sees Largest Number of Sectors Recording New Order Growth Since May 2024

05:23 AM EDT, 09/03/2026 (MT Newswires) -- A survey conducted by S&P Global showed that the majority of European sectors reported an increase in new orders in August 2026, marking the largest number of segments seeing demand growth since May 2024. According to the S&P Global Europe Sector PMI released Thursday, 14 of the 19 monitored sectors saw new sales growth for the month. Meanwhile, business activity rose across 13 of the observed segments, similar to the previous month. The technology equipment sector continued to register the sharpest rise in business activity, with the pace of growth marginally moderating though remaining marked overall. Conversely, construction materials became the weakest-performing sector for the first time since January 2024, posting its steepest decline in output since November 2024.
