11:59 AM EDT, 09/03/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Switzerland-based electrification and automation company ABB (ABBN.SW, ABB.ST) was tasked with upgrading the control and safety systems at Unit 1 of the Cernavodă nuclear power plant in Romania. The contract, awarded by engineering, procurement and construction contractor Ansaldo Nucleare, includes the delivery of the ABB Ability System 800xA, covering distributed control and emergency shutdown systems, as well as cybersecurity services, according to a Thursday release. The modernization project is expected to extend Unit 1's operational life by a further 30 years.
