Broadcom stock slipped about 3% today to US$357.16, extending a weak month for a company that had been priced for perfection. Yet the earnings story tells a different tale. Q3 revenue reached US$29.6b with non GAAP earnings per share of US$3.32, both supported by record free cash flow of US$13.7b.
For short term traders, today looked like fatigue after a strong run. For long term investors, the headline is the sheer scale of Broadcom’s profit engine and the way artificial intelligence hardware and software are starting to reshape its earnings base.

Bulls say Broadcom is a digital infrastructure franchise that can convert AI custom silicon and software into durable cash generation. Q3 results line up with that story in several ways. AI semiconductor revenue reached US$16.7b and more than doubled year on year, with XPUs driving over 70% of that total. That points to real traction in custom accelerators rather than a one product spike. Infrastructure software added breadth with US$8.8b of revenue and double digit ARR growth, while total free cash flow of US$13.7b kept pace with the larger balance sheet. Long dated agreements with Apple, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta and Samsung show Broadcom is not relying on a single AI cycle. The Q4 guide for US$34.8b of revenue and higher AI contribution also supports the idea that AI is moving from proof of concept to scaled production within Broadcom’s mix.
Bears focus on concentration risk, aggressive AI capital plans and guidance that struggles to stay ahead of expectations. Recent results give them some support. The stock has fallen about 3% today and is down roughly mid teens over 30 days despite record Q3 numbers. Q4 revenue guidance of US$34.8b and US$21.7b from AI semiconductors extends prior targets rather than resetting them higher, especially after Nvidia raised its outlook. Customer multisourcing, such as Google’s work with MediaTek and Anthropic exploring chips with Samsung, points to future share and pricing pressure even as Broadcom ramps supply. Plans to raise between US$60b and US$100b of secured and junior debt, plus exposure to the US$35b Anthropic credit package and around US$29b of contingent lease obligations, show why some investors see higher balance sheet and counterparty risk despite today’s strong free cash flow and margins.
