11:35 PM EDT, 09/03/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (BMPS.MI) secured the European Central Bank's approval for the acquisition of fellow Italian lender Mediobanca Banca di Credito Finanziario (MB.MI). The ECB specifically cleared the merger by incorporation, as well as other related corporate reorganization transactions, according to a Thursday release.
