Italian Construction Slump Worsens in August, PMI Shows

03:58 AM EDT, 09/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Italy's construction sector downturn accelerated in August, amid the quickest decline in activity in four years on the back of a "solid" drop in new orders and work in residential and commercial buildings, S&P Global said Friday. The S&P Global Italy Construction PMI came in at 41.7 in August, down from 49.1 in July.
