Hogs Fading Back on Wednesday

Lean hog futures are falling back, with contracts 72 cents to $1.47 lower at midday. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $87.72 on Wednesday morning. The CME Lean Hog Index was back down 89 cents on September 4 at $89.65.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up $2.28 in the Wednesday AM report, at $94.10. The loin, picnic, and rib were all reported lower, with the belly back up $14.33. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday at 483,000 head.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $82.775, down $1.475,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $74.325, down $0.725

Feb 27 Hogs are at $76.775, down $0.875,
