Sabic Agri-Nutrients Takes Final Investment Decision on Ammonia, Urea Project

01:41 AM EDT, 09/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sabic Agri-Nutrients Co. (SASE:2020) will launch the development of its planned ammonia and urea production facility in Saudi Arabia in the fourth quarter, according to a Thursday release. The fertilizer producer's board on Wednesday took the final investment decision on the project and granted a $3.47 billion engineering, procurement and construction contract to Samsung E&A. The proposed integrated industrial complex will comprise an ammonia plant with production capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per annum, two urea plants with a combined annual production capacity of 2.6 million metric tons, and a post-combustion carbon capture unit. Commissioning is expected in the third quarter of 2030, with commercial production and project completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2030.
