Volvo Group Plans Energy Park With Battery Storage Facility in Sweden

03:33 AM EDT, 09/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AB Volvo (VOLV-B.ST, VOLV-A.ST), d/b/a Volvo Group, unveiled on Thursday a plan to develop an energy park in Mariestad, Sweden. The energy park will be built near the site where the Swedish vehicle manufacturer intends to develop a battery cell production plant. The park will comprise a battery storage facility and a future test bed for innovative energy solutions and will have an initial generation capacity of 70 megawatts with 260 megawatt-hour of battery storage capacity. The Swedish vehicle manufacturer expects the park to commence operations in 2027 and the battery cell plant to begin production after 2030.
