Physician-supervised iron sucrose infusions bring hospital-grade iron restoration to Texas patients with Crohn's, heavy menstrual bleeding, gray-zone ferritin, and pre-surgical needs

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Drip Gym, a physician-supervised intravenous therapy provider with clinics in Queens and Long Island, today announced the expansion of its mobile iron IV service to Texas. Iron-deficient patients in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio can now receive medical-grade Venofer® infusions at home, administered by state-licensed registered nurses.

The launch responds to a national iron deficiency burden of approximately 10 million Americans, with 5 million diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia, according to the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements.

Patients across six clinical profiles face the same barrier in Texas:

  • Individuals with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac, or other malabsorption conditions cannot absorb oral iron.
  • Women with heavy menstrual bleeding sit in a "gray zone" where ferritin (the protein that stores iron) is depleted but labs appear normal.
  • Patients preparing for elective or aesthetic surgery need iron optimized.
  • Repeat patients require maintenance dosing.
  • Others have insurance denials despite documented symptoms.
  • Postpartum moms have OBGYN prescriptions local infusion suites cannot book in time.

"I've been managing Crohn's for over a decade and my body doesn't absorb oral iron. Every time my ferritin drops, my only option was a half-day at the medical center, plus arranging childcare and taking a day off work. Drip Gym's RN came to my kitchen table on a Sunday, ran the same Venofer® my hematologist ordered, and I was back with my kids in 90 minutes," said a patient in Austin.

Drip Gym Medical Director Dr. Pervaiz Qureshi, MD, commented: "Ferritin sits in the 15 to 30 nanogram per milliliter range where hemoglobin looks normal but iron stores are functionally depleted for a large share of patients. When oral iron doesn't absorb or isn't tolerated, at-home Venofer® delivered by a licensed RN under physician oversight is a clinically appropriate path most patients never hear offered because it isn't part of the standard hospital referral flow."

Drip Gym's iron IV uses Venofer®, an iron sucrose formulation approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Every infusion requires a physician-reviewed complete blood count and ferritin panel from the past 90 days to protect against iron overload. Sessions run 30 to 60 minutes followed by an observation period by licensed nurses.

Single at-home infusions are priced all-inclusive at $400, while a Buy 5, Get 1 Free package costs $2,000. Both HSA and FSA are accepted. Patients in Texas can visit dripgym.com/products/iron-therapy-texas to book.
