Academy Sports Analysts Boost Their Forecasts After Upbeat Q2 Earnings

Academy Sports and Outdoors Inc. (NASDAQ:ASO) on Wednesday reported upbeat fiscal second-quarter adjusted earnings and raised its full-year earnings outlook.

Academy Sports reported second-quarter net sales of $1.647 billion, up 3% from $1.600 billion a year earlier. Sales were just below the $1.650 billion analyst estimate. Adjusted earnings rose 19.1% to $2.31 per share from $1.94, beating the $2.08 estimate.

Academy raised its fiscal 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $6.50-$6.90 from $6.40-$6.80, compared with the $6.46 analyst estimate. The company also raised its GAAP EPS outlook to $6.05-$6.45 from $5.95-$6.35, versus the $6.10 estimate.

“We delivered another quarter of profitable growth, with net sales increasing 3.0%. While consumer spending remains pressured, particularly among lower-income households, our team has continued to execute at a high level by focusing on the key events and categories that matter most to our customers,” said Steve Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer.

Academy Sports and Outdoors shares fell 0.8% to $50.73 in pre-market trading.

These analysts made changes to their price targets on Academy Sports and Outdoors following earnings announcement.

  • Barclays analyst Adrienne Yih maintained the stock with an Equal-Weight rating and raised the price target from $50 to $53.
  • UBS analyst Michael Lasser maintained the stock with a Neutral and raised the price target from $55 to $58.
