Listen to the news

Shares of Hut 8 Corp. (NASDAQ:HUT) are trading higher Friday afternoon alongside digital asset peers, benefiting from rising sector sentiment ahead of potential U.S. regulatory developments and ongoing momentum across crypto mining.

Here’s what investors need to know.

Senate Clarity Act Momentum Drives Digital Asset Sector Rally

The primary catalyst lifting crypto-linked equities is heightened optimism surrounding an upcoming Senate vote on the landmark Clarity Act.

Market enthusiasm gained traction after Senator Cynthia Lummis shared on social media that the bill’s updated text reflects “bipartisan hard work over August,” raising expectations that the legislation will pass a key procedural vote.

Establishing a formal federal framework for digital assets is seen as a critical milestone to reduce compliance risks for mining operators, digital infrastructure providers, and institutional capital entering the ecosystem.

HPC Data Center Expansion and Q2 Growth Underpin Long-Term Fundamentals

Beyond regulatory tailwinds, Hut 8 continues to benefit from its strategic pivot combining Bitcoin compute operations with high-performance computing data center infrastructure.

In its second-quarter 2026 financial update released on Aug. 5, Hut 8 generated $74.9 million in total revenue, up 81% year-over-year, driven by compute revenues more than doubling to $72.5 million and 935 BTC mined.

Furthermore, management has aggressively expanded its AI data center portfolio, securing 949 MW in contracted capacity representing roughly $26.6 billion in expected base-term contract value, supported by $7.5 billion in project financings for its River Bend and Beacon Point campuses.
