Recently, several bank customers in Hong Kong said that their credit cards were stolen to order mobile phones. In response to this, Standard Chartered Hong Kong said, “Regarding online discussions about credit cards from different banks being stolen and used for online transactions, the Bank has always established a mechanism to closely monitor and actively assist customers, merchants and credit card organizations to follow up on suspicious credit card transactions. If customers discover any unauthorized transactions, they should notify the bank and report the case to the police as soon as possible, and can block the credit card immediately through online banking or SC Mobile. The Bank will promptly investigate and follow up in accordance with established procedures and apply for a refund to the relevant credit card organization where applicable. If the investigation confirms that the transaction was not authorized by the cardholder, the cardholder is not required to bear the relevant payment. Furthermore, we provide 3-D Secure, an additional authentication service for participating merchants in online transactions to further protect customers, but it is up to individual merchants to decide whether to participate.”
