Have Invesco Insiders Been Selling Stock?
Share
Listen to the news

Some Invesco Ltd. (NYSE:IVZ) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Senior MD & Head of Asia Pacific, Andrew Tak Lo, recently sold a substantial US$4.6m worth of stock at a price of US$32.39 per share. That sale reduced their total holding by 15% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

Invesco Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by Andrew Tak Lo was the biggest sale of Invesco shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$31.51. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Invesco insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Invesco insiders own about US$98m worth of shares. That equates to 0.7% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Invesco Tell Us?

Insiders sold Invesco shares recently, but they didn't buy any. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases. While insiders do own shares, they don't own a heap, and they have been selling. We'd practice some caution before buying! So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company. While conducting our analysis, we found that Invesco has 2 warning signs and it would be unwise to ignore them.
