Hut 8 Corp. is starting work next week on the Beacon Point data center campus in Nueces County. The 657,130-square-foot facility is estimated to cost $399 million. It hopes to have the facility operational in November of 2027.

The facility is planned for 4650 FM 1694 in Robstown. Hut 8 Corp. says Beacon Point will be a 525-acre, AI-focused campus planned for up to 1 gigawatt of capacity.

Jacobs Project Management Co. is listed as the design firm.

The San Antonio Business Journal reports Hut 8 signed a 15-year lease worth at least $9.8 billion for 352 megawatts of capacity at the Beacon Point campus. Hut 8 also disclosed a second 15-year, 352-megawatt lease at Beacon Point with the same tenant, bringing total contracted capacity to 704 megawatts and total contract value to approximately $19.6 billion.

Project partners previously identified by Hut 8 include American Electric Power, Vertiv Holdings Co. and Jacobs.
