11:18 PM EDT, 09/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Poste Italiane (PST.MI) said Tuesday that its takeover proposal for telecommunications operator Telecom Italia (TIT.MI) has taken effect. The postal services company received acceptances from shareholders representing 993,596,322 shares, or 46.523% of the share capital of the target at the closing of the offer, increasing its ownership in Telecom Italia to 1,422,960,312 shares or 66.627%. The acceptance period will be reopened from Sept. 21 to Sept. 25 to allow remaining shareholders to accept the proposal. Under the offer, shareholders of the target will receive 1.97 euros per share plus 0.218 newly issued Poste shares. Shareholders who have already accepted the offer during the initial acceptance period will receive payment on Friday.
