05:36 AM EDT, 09/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Barclays' (BARC.L) return-to-office plan is facing opposition from the staff, London's Financial Times reported Thursday, citing a memo from the Unite union. The union reportedly urged the lender to halt the plan and requested exemptions for staff who live more than 40 minutes away from the office, as well as flexible work arrangements for those with caring responsibilities. It is also calling for a one-off payment to cover higher costs for employees who will come to the office, the report said. The new policy, which is expected to be implemented in October, mandates full-time workers to come into the office at least three days a week, with senior management expected to be in the office for at least four days. Currently, full-time workers are required to be in the office twice a week. Barclays did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
