The company functions as a global powerhouse in athletic gear and apparel, operating a premium multi-brand platform that spans from high-end technical clothing to specialized sports equipment. Our proprietary Hidden Gems scoring system assigns Amer Sports an overall Superscore of 75 out of 100, placing it in the Above Average category. This score ranks the company in the Top ~21% of every company we evaluate, ahead of roughly 79 out of every 100 firms we score. The Superscore serves as a data-driven starting point, and this article examines both the operational momentum fueling its recent success and the structural hurdles that keep the company below top-tier rankings, helping you weigh these signals against your own research.

Why AS Has a 75 Superscore

  • Strong revenue momentum: The company achieved 27% year-over-year revenue growth in 2025, reaching $6.6 billion as it successfully scaled its brand-led platform across global markets.
  • Effective channel pivot: Direct-to-consumer revenue surged 43% in 2025, allowing the company to capture higher margins and deepen its direct relationship with premium consumers.
  • Expanding operational efficiency: Adjusted EBITDA margins widened to 18% in 2025, demonstrating that the company's shared infrastructure strategy is successfully converting scale into bottom-line profitability.
  • Market share gains: Premium brand positioning in technical apparel and outdoor footwear has driven significant gains, particularly in high-growth regions such as Greater China.

Why Is AS's Superscore Not Higher?

  • Tariff and policy sensitivity: The company faces ongoing exposure to IEEPA and Section 301 tariff changes, which introduce significant volatility into its gross margin profiles and operational guidance.
  • Concentrated ownership: A dominant majority stake held by a small group of entities limits minority shareholder oversight and creates potential for significant conflicts of interest.
  • Retail execution risk: The aggressive expansion of physical retail footprints requires heavy capital outlays and complex management, introducing risks if consumer demand softens in the current macro climate.

The company maintains a high return on net tangible assets, ranking in the top half of our database, indicating it generates outsize profits on a relatively small base of physical assets. This efficiency helps the company compound value faster as it grows, which goes some way toward justifying the premium valuation the market currently applies to its shares.

My 5-year prediction for AS stock

This stock has a good chance to beat the market over the next five years. Amer Sports owns some of the most recognizable brands in outdoor sports, such as Wilson and Salomon. The Salomon brand has been around for over 75 years, catering to the needs of the mountain sports lifestyle. This gives the company a durable competitive moat in a crowded athletic apparel industry, since people tend to stick with familiar brands.

The DTC channel has been the main driver of margin expansion in recent years, and momentum still looks strong. DTC sales increased from $1.1 billion in 2022 to $3.8 billion on a trailing-12-month basis. With segment sales up 43% last year, there appears to be a long runway for more growth.

Management is executing a long-term expansion strategy. Salomon is underpenetrated in China and North America, leaving room to grow sales by building greater market presence and brand awareness. Wilson also seems to offer sales upside, with recent strong growth in performance rackets and soft goods.

Analysts expect earnings to grow at an annualized rate of about 22% in the coming years. The stock's trailing P/E of 29 seems to be a reasonable multiple for this level of growth. Assuming the stock continues to trade around a 25x P/E multiple and the company delivers on earnings expectations, investors buying the stock today could reasonably expect their investment to double in the next five years.
