01:28 AM EDT, 09/18/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sandoz Group (SDZ.SW) said Friday that Health Canada granted marketing authorization for its GLP-1 receptor agonist injection, Sandoz Semaglutide, for adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Semaglutide, a generic version of Novo Nordisk's (NOVO-B.CO) Ozempic, was approved for once-weekly subcutaneous injection. It will be available in three dose strengths delivered via two pen presentations. The approval follows the recent US Food and Drug Administration acceptance of the company's applications for in-house development of generic tirzepatide GLP-1s and the approval of Owozy, semaglutide, in Brazil, for which Sandoz has commercial rights.
