07:15 AM EDT, 09/18/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Roche's (RO.SW) Ocrevus intravenous infusion for multiple sclerosis was recommended for approval by the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use. The Swiss drugmaker said Friday that Ocrevus, or ocrelizumab, is intended to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis in pediatric patients aged 10 years and above. The positive opinion is based on the phase 3 Operetta 2 study, which showed comparable efficacy to the current standard of treatment and reduced the risk of relapses by 48%, compared with fingolimod, while demonstrating its superiority in reducing brain inflammation. The European Commission is expected to issue its final decision in the near future.
