Listen to the news

IREN Ltd. (NASDAQ:IREN) stock rose almost 2% in Friday premarket trading as investors weighed its expanding AI and power infrastructure portfolio alongside recent analyst support.

Nasdaq futures gained 0.16%, while S&P 500 futures fell 0.29%.

IREN’s infrastructure expansion remains a key part of the investment story. The company received conditional approval for its 2-gigawatt Sweetwater Hub under ERCOT’s Batch Zero process, strengthening its pipeline of power capacity for future data center development.

Analyst sentiment has also improved. JPMorgan double-upgraded IREN to Overweight and raised its price forecast to $65 on Sept. 14. BTIG maintained its Buy rating and $80 price forecast the same day.

Meanwhile, the stock has regained its 20-day and 50-day moving averages after a midyear pullback. However, IREN is still recovering from a bearish “death cross” that formed in August.

Technical Analysis

At $44.13, IREN trades 6.6% above its 20-day SMA of $41.63 and 10.2% above its 50-day SMA of $40.28.

However, the stock remains 5.8% below its 100-day SMA of $47.14 and 2.5% below its 200-day SMA of $45.55. That suggests the longer-term trend is still recovering.

IREN’s RSI stands at 53.45, indicating neutral momentum. Meanwhile, the 20-day SMA has moved above the 50-day SMA, a bullish short-term signal. Still, the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA.

Resistance sits near $49, while support is around $37.50.

Analyst Outlook

The stock carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $79.40.

JPMorgan double-upgraded IREN to Overweight with a $65 price forecast on Sept. 14. BTIG maintained Buy with an $80 forecast the same day. Freedom Capital Markets maintained Buy and a $58 forecast on Sept. 2.

Benzinga Edge Rankings

IREN has a Momentum score of 37.18, according to the Benzinga Edge scorecard. The reading is neutral despite the recent improvement in the stock’s short-term trend.

A sustained move above the $45.55 to $47.14 moving-average range would mark another technical step in the recovery.

Price Action

IREN shares rose 1.61% to $44.18 in Friday premarket trading, according to Benzinga Pro data.
