12:43 AM EDT, 09/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Porsche AG (P911.F) is considering an additional 4,100 job cuts on top of reductions previously agreed with employees following a proposal from Volkswagen (VOW.F, VOW3.F), the German business newspaper Handelsblatt reported Sept. 19. Documents detailing a recent agreement by Volkswagen's supervisory board showed that the recommended job cuts are aimed at addressing an overhead shortfall of 700 million euros, according to Handelsblatt. The reported cuts come as parent company Volkswagen revised its 2026 outlook amid a non-cash impairment of 6 billion euros on goodwill related to Porsche. The reduction is "in addition to existing agreements," the report said. In July, Porsche announced a plan to reduce 5,000 positions by 2035 as part of its comprehensive package to improve competitiveness. Porsche AG and Volkswagen did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
