QUICK SPARK: Want Sports Franchise Exposure? New ETF Filing Targets Team Owners

Listen to the news

Amplify Investments is seeking to launch the Amplify Pro Sports Private & Public Ownership ETF, an actively managed ETF designed to give investors exposure to owners and operators of professional sports teams, leagues and venues. The fund seeks capital appreciation and plans to invest in U.S. and foreign publicly traded sports-ownership companies, while allocating up to 15% to private sports investments.

The public portfolio is expected to track the VettaFi Sports Index, which includes exposure to professional baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer and other sports, with the index split 80% toward "Public Pro Sports Ownership Principals" and 20% toward "Participants." The private sleeve could include direct interests, private funds, co-investments and other structures tied to sports franchises and related assets.

The filing was submitted last Thursday and proposes a 75-day effectiveness period. The prospectus lists NYSE Arca as the intended exchange and the ticker as PROS.

QUICK CONTEXT: Sports Ownership Moves Into ETFs

Sports franchises have increasingly become investment assets, but direct ownership has traditionally been out of reach for most retail investors. PROS is designed to provide public-market exposure to companies that own or operate teams, leagues and sports venues, while also allowing a limited allocation to private sports investments.

The filing comes as sports-focused ETFs emerge as a niche thematic category. Gabelli Opportunities in Live and Sports ETF (NYSE:GOLS), which began trading in January 2026, invests across the broader sports and live-entertainment ecosystem, including team ownership structures, sports media, ticketing, venues and technology companies.
