01:45 AM EDT, 09/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Roche (RO.SW) said Tuesday that once-weekly enicepatide met the primary endpoints of a phase 2 study after it helped reduce blood glucose and body weight in adults with type 2 diabetes and overweight or obesity. Results from the mid-stage trial called CT-388-104 showed that patients administered with 24-milligram enicepatide, the highest titrated dose, showed a 2.65% reduction in blood sugar levels and a mean weight loss of 15.5% after 48 weeks. In addition, 90% of patients in the 24-mg group achieved a blood sugar level of less than or equal to 6.5%, while 62% reached normal blood glucose levels. Enicepatide's safety and tolerability profile was in line with other established incretin-based therapies. The Swiss drugmaker is conducting a late-stage development program for enicepatide, including two ongoing late-stage trials in chronic weight management, with plans for a phase 3 glycemic-control program and cardiovascular outcomes studies in the first half of 2027.
