KUALA LUMPUR: Destini Bhd’s 70%-owned subsidiary M Rail Technics Sdn Bhd (Railtec) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Siemens Mobility Sdn Bhd to explore cooperation in developing digital railway maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Malaysia.
In a statement, Destini said the collaboration would focus on developing a Reliability Control Centre for data-driven railway MRO activities.
Under the two-year, non-binding MOU, Railtec and Siemens Mobility will explore the digitalisation of railway MRO activities through the use of digital tools, platforms, automation and data-driven maintenance practices.
The companies will also cooperate on training and upskilling Railtec personnel across technical, operational, digital and maintenance disciplines.
The collaboration will include technical advisory and support covering maintenance processes, depot practices, technical documentation, tooling, equipment specifications and specialised systems.
Destini group managing director Datuk Seri Dr Shahril Mokhtar said the partnership would combine Siemens Mobility’s technology and digital expertise with Railtec’s local operational experience.
“By combining Siemens’ world-class technology and digital expertise with Railtec’s deep local operational experience, we are positioning Railtec to lead the transition toward data-driven, smart maintenance solutions.
“This collaboration not only strengthens our capability to support national rail assets but also fosters local talent development and technical resilience in line with Malaysia’s broader industrial and transport infrastructure goals,” he said.
The MOU takes effect immediately and will remain in force for two years.
