KOF: Economists Raise Swiss GDP Projection for 2026; Inflation Outlook Trimmed

03:45 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Economists revised their 2026 real sport-adjusted gross domestic product growth estimate and inflation forecasts for Switzerland, a quarterly survey by the KOF Swiss Economic Institute showed Friday. According to the KOF Consensus Forecast for the third quarter, survey participants' 2026 growth expectations now stand at 1.7%, against the June survey projection of 0.9%. The 2027 GDP growth estimate was also lifted to 1.6% from the 1.5% forecast earlier, while the five-year projection was ticked up to 1.7% from 1.6%. Meanwhile, the forecasters revised their average inflation rate projections downwards to 0.6% for 2026 and 0.7% for 2027 from 0.7% and 0.8%, respectively. Inflation expectations for five years out was also trimmed to 0.8%, down from a 0.9% estimate previously. The consensus unemployment rate assumption for 2026 held steady at 3.1%, while the 2027 outlook for the Swiss labor market ticked down to 3% from 3.1%. In five years, the unemployment rate projection edged up to 2.9% from the previous forecast of 2.8%.
