The Zhitong Finance App learned that on September 25, Hong Kong Electric (02638) announced that the fuel adjustment fee for October was 59.3 HK cents per kilowatt hour, down 1.4 HK cents from September. Together with the basic electricity bill, the average net electricity bill in October was HK187.2 cents per kilowatt hour, a decrease of 0.8% compared to September.
A HK Electric spokesperson said that due to the “deferred effect” of the month-on-month adjustment mechanism, the October fuel adjustment fee mainly reflects fuel costs for the period from June to August this year.
The speaker stressed that prices in the international energy market are still fluctuating, and future fuel adjustment fee levels will still depend on international fuel price trends. Hong Kong Electric will continue to closely monitor international energy market trends and minimize the impact of fuel price fluctuations on customers through prudent procurement strategies and timely fuel mix adjustments, while making every effort to ensure stable fuel supply and meet emission limits.
From August to October, HK Electric will provide a “special electricity subsidy” of 8 HK cents per kilowatt hour to residential customers who consume 450 degrees or less of electricity per month to mitigate the impact of rising electricity bills on residential customers.
As for CLP, the fuel adjustment fee for October was HK46.2 HK cents per kilowatt hour, up 1.1 HK cents from September. Together with the basic electricity bill, the average net electricity cost in October was HK147.4 HK cents per kilowatt hour.
