08:55 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Germany's Bundestag approved a fuel tax reduction of 0.17 euro for each liter of petrol and diesel from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, according to a Friday release. The policy is expected to result in total revenue shortfalls of 2.49 billion euros for energy tax and 293 million euros for sales tax, although increased purchasing power could lead to higher value-added tax revenue in other areas, the German parliament's lower house said. The measure is slated for final approval by the upper house, or Bundesrat, later on Friday and is expected to take effect on Oct. 1, according to Bloomberg News.
