Hogs Face Monday Losses

Lean hog futures were mostly lower on Monday, with October up a tick and the rest of the board down 55 cents to $1.27. USDA’s national base hog price was up 54 cents in the Monday PM report at $79.22. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 44 cents on September 24 at $81.76. 

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up $1.06 in the Monday afternoon report, at $87.80. The belly primal was the only reported lower. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was estimated at 491,000 head. That was 26,000 head above last Monday and 2,791 head larger than the same Monday last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  closed at $78.250, up $0.025,

Dec 26 Hogs  closed at $68.400, down $0.625

Feb 27 Hogs  closed at $69.375, down $0.950,
