11:26 PM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's shop price inflation eased to 1.4% year over year in September, from 1.5% a month ago, a survey by the British Retail Consortium showed Tuesday. The latest reading was below the consensus estimate of 1.5%. BRC said promotions on meat and dairy enabled lower prices, while discounts on back-to-school products softened inflation in the non-food segment. On the other hand, "poor" harvests in Europe and rising global commodity costs led to high prices of fruit and confectionery, respectively.
