11:51 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- German equities were flat on Tuesday's close as the market digested the latest euro area economic sentiment and consumer confidence survey results. The economic sentiment indicator in the euro area edged down to 97.9 points in September from 98.4 points a month ago, according to the latest monthly business and consumer survey from the European Commission. Meanwhile, the final consumer confidence index stood at -16.5 points, consistent with the flash estimate and against the -15.5 points previously. On the geopolitical front, US President Donald Trump denied media reports claiming that the US offered Iran sanctions relief in exchange for "concrete" steps regarding its nuclear program, saying on Truth Social that he offered Tehran nothing. In corporate news, Infineon Technologies (IFX.F) announced a partnership with Eaton to supply silicon carbide power devices for the intelligent power management company's solid-state transformer platform. Designed for artificial intelligence data centers, the collaboration aims to improve grid power conversion efficiency, density, and reliability. The German semiconductor maker gained 4.83% and was the DAX index's top performer. Meanwhile, Berenberg downgraded Fresenius Medical Care's (FME.F) rating to hold from buy and reduced its price target to 42 euros from 60 euros, as the research firm sees the end of the dialysis services and products company's self-help story alongside weak volume growth in the US. The stock dropped 3.16%. "Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) is the leading vertically integrated kidney care provider. Management has executed its FME25+ transformation programme well, delivering cEUR920m of the EUR1.2bn savings target so far and deleveraging to 2.6x. That self-help is largely complete, US volume growth is weak. US same-market volumes deteriorated from 0% in 2025 to -0.4% in Q1 and -0.9% in Q2, against a 2%+ mid-term assumption, which will increasingly drive earnings as the high-margin Transitional Drug Add-on Payment Adjustment (TDAPA) laps from H2. We think that evidence of positive US treatment growth is needed for a re-rating, but visibility is limited and it will likely take at least several quarters to emerge," Berenberg said in a note.
