12:53 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Stellantis (STLAM.MI, STLAP.PA) will halt production at two French factories in October due to a shortage in the supply of long-range batteries for electric vehicles, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing the company. The European automaker will close its plant in Rennes from Oct. 22 and in Sochaux from Oct. 23 until Oct. 30. Additionally, the group's Mulhouse facility will shut down from Oct. 15 to Oct. 30, for irrelevant reasons. Automotive Cells Co., Stellantis' joint venture with Mercedes (MBG.F) and TotalEnergies (TTE.L, TTE.PA), supplies long-range batteries. Automotive Cells' production of modules in September is expected to near its total output for 2025, the supplier said. Stellantis did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
