07:44 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Stocks in the United Arab Emirates closed lower again as market watchers await the latest US inflation figures to assess the direction of interest rates. At the close of Wednesday trading, the FTSE ADX General Index shed 0.612%, while the DFM General Index declined 0.458%. The US Bureau of Economic Analysis will release the personal consumption expenditures price index data for August on Wednesday. Headline PCE is expected to rise 0.3% monthly and 3.7% on an annual basis, while core PCE is projected to climb 0.3% month-over-month and remain unchanged at 3.3% yearly. "While this is the Fed's preferred inflation measure, markets are likely to place greater weight on the September CPI release in a couple of weeks. Even so, a 0.4% MoM core PCE print could lift the October hike pricing again close to 20bp if supported by jobs figures too," ING analysts said. On the geopolitical front, US President Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, dismissed media reports of offering sanctions relief and frozen funds to Iran. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi received a US response to a Qatari-mediated proposal comprising a seven-day plan to build trust and resume negotiations. Zooming in at home, the UAE Central Bank and the Central Bank of Egypt renewed their 5 billion-Emirati-dirham currency swap agreement for five years to bolster their financial and economic ties. Over to corporates, Abu Dhabi-listed fertilizer company Fertiglobe's (ADX:FERTIGLB) board approved an interim cash dividend of 0.0673 dirham per share. Fertiglobe closed the session 1.56% lower. Emirates NBD (DFM:EMIRATESNBD) provided TIM Aerospace with a term loan to support its construction and opening of a new purpose-built maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Dubai. Emirates NBD shares closed the session 1.82% in the red.
