The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to data from the Macao Special Administrative Region Statistics and Census Bureau, the average occupancy rate of rooms in Macau's hotel business rose 0.8 percentage points year-on-year to 93.9% in August 2026. Among them, the occupancy rates of four-star (94.4%) and three-star (91.1%) hotels increased by 5.4 and 1.2 percentage points, respectively, while the occupancy rate of five-star hotels (95.1%) decreased by 0.5 percentage points.

In August of this year, the number of guests staying in the Macau hotel industry fell 2.6% year on year to 1.27 million; guests from mainland China (978,000) and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (136,000) decreased by 1.3% and 11.0% respectively; international guests (86,000) decreased by 2.9% year on year. Among them, visitors from South Korea (27,000) decreased by 3.6%, while the number of US guests (50,000) increased by 31.5%.

The number of inbound visitors in August was 178,000, up 14.4% year on year; group visitors from mainland China increased by 25.0% to 164,000.

In the first eight months of this year, the average room occupancy rate of Macau's hotels increased 1.1 percentage points year-on-year to 91.0%, and the number of guests decreased by 1.6% to 9.64 million; the total number of international guests was 838,000, an increase of 10.4%. Meanwhile, the total number of inbound visitors in the first eight months fell 8.2% year over year to 1.169,000.
