12:39 AM EDT, 10/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BMO Capital Markets expects Eli Lilly's (LLY.SW, LLY.F) expanding obesity pipeline to bolster long-term patient retention and broaden treatment options. Following the pharmaceutical giant's analyst call at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes event, BMO said Wednesday that the update strengthens confidence that Eli Lilly's next-generation weight-loss portfolio will grow its market while maintaining tirzepatide's status as foundational therapy. "Lilly's sell-side analyst call highlighted: 1) retatrutide's 16.8% placebo-adjusted weight loss represents compelling efficacy in T2D; 2) strong 4 mg results could broaden use beyond highest-need patients; and 3) eloralintide validates selective amylin as a complementary obesity treatment mechanism, while EloraTZP adds efficacy to tirzepatide, although tolerability requires optimization. All in, Lilly's increasingly differentiated oral/injectable/combo portfolio should expand treatment choice, supporting patient retention and market segmentation," the research firm wrote. BMO rates the stock at outperform, with a price target of $1,400.
