Alstom to Supply Trains for South Africa's Gautrain After Consortium Wins Bid

01:20 AM EDT, 10/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alstom (ALO.PA) said the Sihamba Sonke Mobility consortium, in which it is a shareholder and strategic industrial partner, was selected as the preferred bidder for the next Gautrain concession by the Gauteng provincial government and Gautrain Management Agency in South Africa. The French rail and transport equipment company said Wednesday its scope within the concession has a cumulative contract value of 800 million euros over the 15-year concession period. The work includes modernizing and refurbishing the rail system, including eight new locally made trains, a new signalling system, communications upgrades, refurbishment of the existing fleet and long-term maintenance.
