03:30 AM EDT, 10/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sentiment in the German electronics industry sustained its upward trajectory in September, amid "exceptionally strong" demand in the electrical equipment sector, the ifo Institute said Thursday. The business climate indicator surged to 24.8 points from 16.5 points a month ago. According to ifo, surveyed companies' assessment of current business conditions "improved markedly," while expectations also brightened. However, the robust order situation is tempered by supply constraints, with 40% of businesses reporting intermediate goods shortages. "Demand is not the problem at the moment. Supply of intermediate goods, on the other hand, could become the bottleneck," ifo expert Klaus Wohlrabe said.
