The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.19 per share.

The consulting company posted revenue of $18.68 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $18.02 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $8.37 billion, or $13.56 per share. Revenue was reported as $74.18 billion.

Accenture expects full-year earnings to be $14.39 to $14.81 per share.

Accenture shares have fallen 32% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has increased 12%. The stock has declined 26% in the last 12 months.
