The Zhitong Finance App learned that Counterpoint Research previously released its first sales estimate for the iPhone Duo, saying that the model may sell 6 million units this year. However, UBS said that the waiting time for the arrival of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max is “basically the same.” UBS rated Apple (AAPL.US) as neutral, with a target price of $296.
UBS analyst David Vogt (David Vogt) wrote in a report to clients: “UBS Evidence Lab data, which tracks iPhone supply in more than 30 countries and regions, shows that wait times have remained relatively unchanged from week to week. Pro in the US market was the only significant difference, decreasing by about 2 days from week to week. As a result, the overall average waiting time was roughly the same as last year. Among them, Pro in the US market (-2 days YoY), Pro in the Chinese market (+2 days YoY), and Pro Max (-4 days) in the Chinese market were the only significant differences. The year-on-year difference between China's Pro Max remained relatively unchanged throughout the survey, which may indicate that consumers are waiting for Duo to be released next month. We believe that existing Pro Max users who buy the upgraded configuration — particularly in China — will most likely form the initial market for this new model.”
Counterpoint said earlier on Wednesday that the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Duo had slightly higher panel purchases than the iPhone 17 series, with Pro and Pro Max up 2% year over year. The rest of the increase is due to the iPhone Duo, Apple's first folding screen phone. The 256 GB version of the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and offers up to 2 TB.
The iPhone Duo is about the size of a passport and has two rounded corners, making it the thinnest iPhone in the tech giant's history. The new machine has an aerospace-grade titanium frame, a new exterior design, and a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display. It's 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max and 80% larger than the iPhone Pro. Pre-sale of this model began on October 16 and officially went on sale on October 23.
