Emirati, Moroccan Central Banks Sign MoUs for Cross-border Financial Trade

02:40 AM EDT, 10/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The central banks of the United Arab Emirates and Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration in banking supervision and Islamic finance and another contract to explore interlinking instant payment platforms, national card switches, and financial messaging systems. Under the agreements, the CBUAE and Bank Al-Maghrib will look into the development of cross-border Shariah-compliant financing, including trade finance and infrastructure investment, and retail and wholesale central bank digital currencies, according to an Oct. 3 release.
