Valued at a market cap of $69.8 billion, Comfort Systems USA, Inc. (FIX) is a leading U.S. provider of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contracting services for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. The Houston, Texas-based company designs, installs, maintains, repairs, and replaces heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, piping, and building automation systems.
The industrial titan is expected to announce its Q3 earnings for FY2026 in the near future. Before this event, analysts expect this industrial company to report a profit of $12.42 per share, up 50.6% from $8.25 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company has topped Wall Street’s bottom-line estimates in each of the last four quarters.
For the current fiscal year, ending in December, analysts expect FIX to report a profit of $48.15 per share, up 66.7% from $28.88 per share in fiscal 2025. Furthermore, its EPS is expected to grow 23.2% year over year to $59.31 in fiscal 2027.
Shares of FIX have surged 107.5% over the past 52 weeks, significantly outperforming both the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 15% return and the State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLI) 10.2% uptick over the same time period.
FIX has outpaced the broader market over the past year as surging demand, record backlog growth, and improving profitability have strengthened its earnings outlook. Demand for its mechanical and electrical contracting services, particularly from data centers and other technology and industrial projects, has allowed backlog to expand rapidly. At the same time, FIX has become increasingly efficient at converting that demand into cash. Its free cash flow margin has expanded significantly, giving the company greater flexibility to invest in capacity, pursue acquisitions, and return capital to shareholders.
Wall Street analysts are highly optimistic about FIX’s stock, with an overall "Strong Buy" rating. Among 13 analysts covering the stock, 11 recommend "Strong Buy," and two indicate “Hold." The mean price target for FIX is $2,154.40, indicating a 24.7% potential upside from the current levels.
